What it’s like
Art parties that come to your home or venue from £25 a child, plus weekly classes and holiday camps for ages 4 to 16.
Where the art gets made depends on what you book. The Finchley studio hosts weekly term time classes, holiday camps and private sessions, while parties travel out to your own home or venue for a £30 travel hire. Either way there's a real teacher in the room: children learn core techniques across different media, with a bit of art history folded in as they go.
Parties suit ages 5 to 14 and run 1.5 hours of making plus 30 minutes for tea. Every child finishes with one artwork, themed to whatever you ask for, and you can add clay modelling for £5 a head or canvas for £10. The base price is £25 per child on A3 paper, which stings once you're past eight of them, and there's a minimum of 8 children and a cap of 20. That £30 an hour studio hire sits on top if you're using Finchley, £60 for a two hour party, or £50 extra for the garden studio.
The faff is the food. Party tea, plates and crockery all come from you, and there's nowhere to cook, so it's sandwiches and a plastic bag of forks. Aprons aren't standard either, so send them in old clothes and accept that the good jumper stays home.
Older ones get something out of it too. Students aged 11 to 16 can follow the curriculum or pick what they want to learn, which makes the Saturday online lesson worth knowing about if your teenager has a GCSE portfolio in mind. Booking a party means 50% up front and the balance a week before, and unused places aren't refunded once you've paid in full.
