What it’s like
Sixty minutes in a glow-in-the-dark room where you're meant to paint the walls, the floor and each other, and take the canvas home.
You get a room, a large canvas, unlimited paint and permission to make a mess. The splatter room runs for 60 minutes and you're actively encouraged to hit the walls, the floor, yourself and whoever you brought, with water squirters and whatever paint is left over. Ages five and up, so a five-year-old can absolutely do it, though the ones who'll get the most out of it are probably 8 to 12. No art experience needed, and they say guidance on technique is given if you want it, but honestly the technique here is throwing.
Sessions are £42 a person, which is a lot for an hour, and it's the main thing to weigh up if you're bringing three kids. You do come away with a big canvas each, so there's something to show for it. Booking is required, your slot is 60 to 90 minutes depending on the session, and they ask you to arrive 15 minutes before you're due to start. Glow in the Dark runs at the same £42 and sounds like the one to save for a birthday.
The catch is the paint. Neon does not come out of fabrics, full stop, and protective gear (goggles, gowns, shoe covers) is provided but the toilets are outside the studio, which means stripping the gear off if anyone needs to go mid-session. Worth a loo trip before you start.
Birthday parties from £365 for 10 kids, up to £445 if you want the neon paint fight finale. Exclusive use runs 1.5 to 2 hours. Smaller groups can book into a public session and flag it as a special occasion, and there's a café downstairs for toasties and coffee, with space in the studio for party food.

Plan your visit
How much is a session?
£42 a person for the Classic or Glow in the Dark splatter sessions. Weekdays and weekends are the same price from what they list.
Do we need to book?
Booking is required, so check availability online before you plan the day. Groups and parties can be arranged at times outside the advertised slots.
What ages is it for?
Five and up. A five-year-old will manage fine, though 8 to 12 tends to be the sweet spot.
How long are we in there?
60 minutes in the splatter room, and sessions run 60 to 90 minutes overall. Social events go a bit longer.
Will the paint wreck our clothes?
Possibly. Goggles, gowns and shoe covers are provided, but neon paint does not come out of fabrics, so don't send anyone in anything you care about.
Is there parking?
There's limited private courtyard parking you have to arrange in advance, and on-street options nearby with restrictions that vary by day and time.
What about Arsenal match days?
Parking restrictions are extended on Arsenal match days, so check before you drive if the dates clash.
Can we get food there?
There's a resident café downstairs doing snacks, toasties and coffee. For party extensions you can bring your own food for up to 15 people, or order Deliveroo to the studio.
Can I bring alcohol?
Yes for adult-only sessions, which usually run after 6pm, and for private events including kids' parties for the accompanying adults.
How do I get there without a car?
It's a 10-minute walk from Archway, 7 from Upper Holloway and 10 from Crouch Hill Overground. Finsbury Park is a short bus or cycle away.
Can we do a party for fewer than 10 kids?
Yes, book into a public splatter session and tell them it's for a special occasion. Exclusive studio use needs a minimum of 10 children.
Is the studio wheelchair accessible?
It's designed to be fully accessible with lifts and accessible toilets on most floors, but the main lift is out of action so the studio isn't accessible until October.
