What it’s like

Sensory play and structured groups for children aged 1 to 18, from toddler Wave Playdays to afterschools and youth sessions.

This is less a single play space and more a timetable of sessions, built around sensory play and structured groups rather than a big open soft play hall. The youngest children, aged 1 to 3, get Wave Playdays twice a week in the mornings, which is a sensible time slot if you're trying to avoid nap-time meltdowns. School-age kids have afterschools running for 4 to 11 year olds, plus a Social Group two nights a week aimed at 7 to 11 year olds.

Older children aren't an afterthought here either. Youth Groups run alongside the younger sessions, so the age range on offer stretches all the way up to 18, which is unusual for this kind of venue and worth knowing if you've got siblings of very different ages to sort out. Sensory play sessions run separately too, for children who need or simply enjoy that calmer, more tactile kind of play rather than climbing frames and chaos.

Because everything is split into named sessions rather than one continuous drop-in, it's worth working out which group actually fits your child's age before you turn up, since a Wave Playday and a Social Group are quite different experiences. There's a sensory room on site, which is the bit that sets this apart from a standard afterschool club.
