What it’s like
Themed rooms and an outdoor puzzle hunt in the Poachers' Compound, booked in advance and priced by group size.
You've got an hour to solve your way out, working through clues in a themed room, or if you fancy something different, tackling the outdoor Poachers' Compound game instead. It's proper puzzle solving rather than anything physical, though the site is upfront that some spaces are confined and you'll be crouching in places, so it's not one for anyone who hates tight corners.
The pricing rewards a bigger group. Two players pay £30 each, but get six or more of you together and it drops to £20 a head, which makes this one to organise as a party rather than a couples' outing if you want value. Kids from 8 can join a family group, though the site's honest that not every game suits younger children, and they'd rather you rang ahead for advice if you're bringing a mixed-age crowd.
Everything has to be booked in advance, no turning up on spec, and you need to arrive fifteen minutes early for the briefing or you simply don't get in. Sessions run Thursday to Sunday normally, 11am to 7pm for the last game, stretching to all seven days in the school holidays. Parking's free and on-site, which takes one faff out of the day.
For a birthday, the Poachers' Compound outdoor game comes with an undercover picnic area afterwards where you can host a self-catered party for up to 8 players. You bring your own food, plates and cutlery, and take the rubbish home with you.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost?
It depends on group size: £30 a head for two players, dropping to £20 each if you've got six or more. There's also a Secret of the Leopard People game at £23 per person for 2 to 4 players.
Do we need to book in advance?
You do, all games need booking ahead of time. If you're stuck, they say short notice groups can sometimes be fitted in by phone.
What age is it suitable for?
From 8 in a family group, but not every game is right for younger children. Worth ringing them for advice if your group's got a mix of ages.
How long does a game last?
An hour, though some rooms may run slightly shorter or longer.
Is there parking?
Yes, free parking on-site.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Only one room is, and it depends on the size of the wheelchair. Contact them before booking to check it'll work.
Can we book it for a birthday party?
The Poachers' Compound outdoor game works well for this, with a free undercover picnic area for a self-catered party afterwards for up to 8 players. You bring your own food and take the rubbish home.
What time do we need to arrive?
Later than 15 minutes before your game starts, since everyone needs a briefing before the group can go in.
