Houdini’s Escape Room Experience - Wakefield
BEST FOR
Ages 2+
WHERE

What it’s like
You get 60 minutes locked in a room together, working through puzzles and riddles as a team to escape before time runs out.
You and your team get shut in a themed room with 60 minutes on the clock, and it's on you to crack the puzzles and riddles that get you out. It's a private booking every time, so no strangers get thrown in with you, just your group working it out together. At the end there's a free group photo, though you'll have to remember the moment yourselves since cameras and phones are banned inside the room.
Under-6s go free and under-12s must have an adult with them throughout, so this works down to a young age if you've got a grown-up in the room doing the heavy lifting. Kids aged 12 to 16 can play without an adult in the room as long as one's on site, and 16 to 18s can fly solo too once a waiver's signed. Two players is the minimum for any room, so it's not one for a solo escape artist.
Timing is where it gets strict. Turn up more than 15 minutes late and the clock starts without you; more than 20 minutes and your slot's cancelled with no refund, so don't dawdle in the Trinity Walk car park. Bookings are cashless and non-refundable too, with rescheduling only possible if you cancel more than 24 hours out.
There's no set birthday party package, but they'll do deals through the week and weekend, and some sites sit inside Tenpin centres so you can bowl or grab food afterwards. It's not wheelchair accessible, with staircases on some premises, so worth thinking about if anyone in your group uses mobility aids.

Do we need to book ahead?
Booking online or by phone is how most people get in, though walk-ins are taken if there's space on the day.
Is it OK for young kids?
Under-6s play free and under-12s must have an adult in the room with them. Kids aged 12 to 16 can go it alone if an adult stays on site.
What if we're late or need to cancel?
More than 15 minutes late and the clock starts anyway, more than 20 and your game is cancelled with no refund. Cancel within 24 hours of your slot and there's no rescheduling either.
Do you do birthday parties?
There's no fixed party package, but deals run through the week and some venues share a building with Tenpin for food and bowling afterwards.
Is there parking nearby?
Trinity Walk Shopping Centre has parking close by.
