What it’s like

Locked in a themed room for an hour, racing to solve clues before the clock beats you.

You and your team get shut in a themed room and have about 60 minutes to solve the clues and get out, with the whole visit running closer to 90 minutes once you count the briefing. There's also City Hunt, an outdoor version where you complete objectives around the city rather than in a locked room, which runs 1.5 to 2 hours of actual game with 2.5 hours allowed in total once you add the briefing and time afterwards in their lounge and bar.

The pricing rewards a bigger group. Two players pay £30 a head, three pay £27, four pay £23, five pay £22 and six drops to £21, so it's worth trying to rope in a few more mates before you book rather than after. This is an eight-and-over game and under-16s need a paying adult in the room with them.

Birthday parties run from £20 to £30 a head depending on when you go, with an after-school rate of £20 for ages 8 to 16 on Monday to Thursday between 3 and 6pm. Parties of ten or more get the birthday child in free, and packages are built for groups up to 12, with bigger groups asked to get in touch directly.

It's card only, so leave the cash at home, and dogs are fine if they're assistance dogs. Wheelchair users are catered for in many of the rooms, up to two per game, and a registered carer gets in free. If you're coming by train, it's about a ten minute walk from Leeds station.
