What it’s like

A LEGO-built theme park with over 55 rides, from a swinging pirate galleon to a 30mph coaster and a splash park in summer.

The name on the ticket might be Jolly Rocker, the high-swinging pirate galleon that hits 18 metres, but that's just one of more than 55 rides here. Littlest ones get their own patch in DUPLO Valley, with the gentle DUPLO Dino Coaster and DUPLO Express train sized right for a toddler who isn't ready for anything with a drop. Older kids will head straight for The Dragon rollercoaster, which gets up to 30mph, or the Pirate Falls log flume if they fancy getting properly soaked.

From May Half Term to early September, Splash Safari and Drench Towers open up outdoors, so pack a spare set of clothes if you're going in that window. There's a sensory room too, which is a nice touch if a full day of queuing and noise is going to be a lot for anyone in your group. Under 90cm, kids go free, which softens the blow of ticket prices that otherwise aren't cheap.

Speaking of which, book online and a saver ticket runs from £32, but turn up on the day and pay standard and it's £68, a big gap that makes booking ahead the obvious move. Parking is bookable in advance too, and doing that apparently saves both time and money on arrival. This is a full day out rather than a half-day one; with 55 attractions across the park, the site itself admits you probably won't get round everything, so it's worth deciding what matters most before you go through the gates.

One rule worth knowing: under-16s can't ride Jolly Rocker as single riders, so pair them up before you queue. The park also reserves the right to refuse admission to certain physically demanding rides on health and safety grounds, which is fair enough but worth bearing in mind if anyone has mobility concerns.

Plan your visit

How much are tickets?

Book online and a saver ticket starts at £32. Pay on the day for a standard ticket and it jumps to £68, so booking ahead makes a real difference.

Do we need to book in advance?

There's a booking link and it clearly pays to use it, given the gap between online and standard pricing. Parking is also bookable in advance.

Is it suitable for toddlers?

DUPLO Valley is built for the youngest visitors, with gentle rides like the DUPLO Dino Coaster and DUPLO Express train. Under 90cm, children go in free.

How long should we plan for?

At least a full day. With over 55 rides and attractions, the park itself says it is tricky to fit everything into one visit.

What's the fastest ride?

The Dragon rollercoaster in Knight's Kingdom, reaching up to 30mph.

Are there water rides?

Pirate Falls: Treasure Quest is a log flume in Pirate Shores. There's also Splash Safari and Drench Towers, outdoor water play areas that open from May Half Term to early September.

Can my child ride Jolly Rocker alone?

No single riders under 16 on Jolly Rocker, so they will need to pair up with someone.

Is there anywhere for a break from the noise?

There's a sensory room on site, useful if the crowds and queues get overwhelming.

Is it accessible for wheelchair users?

The site is accessible to guests with disabilities, with carer support and an Accessibility Experience Team on hand. Some rides can be physically demanding and the park reserves the right to refuse admission on safety grounds.

What time do rides close?

Queues for all rides close up to 30 minutes before the resort's closing time, so don't leave the big ones until the last half hour.

Is there food on site?

There's a café and a restaurant, along with a gift shop and LEGO themed shops if you want a souvenir.
