What it’s like

A travelling animal visit where kids get hands-on with goats, alpacas, donkeys and more, booked in for a set session length.

This one comes to you rather than the other way round, and the session is built around getting hands-on rather than watching from behind a fence. Kids pet and stroke goats, sheep, donkeys, alpacas, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, poultry and tortoises, and there's a go at milking a model cow, which from what they list is the bit that tends to get remembered over the actual animals.

Sessions run from 30 minutes up to two hours, and the length gets tailored to what's booked, so a quick visit and a longer one are both on the table depending on what you arrange. There's also a bit of proper learning worked in, comparing breeds, handling alpaca fleece, and talking through animal care and welfare, so it is not purely a stroke-and-go session.

The way this is set up, with sessions built to be tailored and split into groups, points to this being run mainly for schools and similar group bookings rather than a stand-alone family day out you'd rock up to on a Saturday. If you're planning for your own kids rather than a class, it's worth going in with that in mind and asking how a booking would work for you specifically.

Because the animals travel to wherever the booking is, the setting and any outdoor or weather considerations will come down to the venue hosting the visit rather than the farm itself.
