What it’s like

A 60-minute puzzle room at Tenpin where your team is locked in together to crack riddles and escape before time runs out.

You and your team get 60 minutes to solve the puzzles, riddles and challenges that stand between you and the exit. It's a private booking, so it's just your group in the room, nobody else gets added in. At the end there's a free group photo, which is handy since they don't let you take photos or film during the game itself.

This one skews older than a lot of family activities. Under-12s must have an adult with them throughout, and if everyone playing is under 18 an adult still has to stay on the premises the whole time. Kids aged 6 and up pay the standard player rate, under-6s go free, and honestly a six-year-old is probably going to find the puzzles tough going even with help. Some of the rooms have tunnels to crawl through, ladders, or the odd jump scare.

Timing is the bit that catches people out. Arrive more than 15 minutes late and the Game Master starts your clock without you, and more than 20 minutes late means the game's cancelled with no refund. Bookings can't be refunded at all, and rescheduling only works if you do it more than 24 hours ahead. Parking's free on site at Tenpin, and it's an easy walk from Southampton Central if you're coming by train, but bring a card as it's cashless only, no cash accepted anywhere on site.

Plan your visit

What age is this suitable for?

There's a minimum age of 8. Under-12s need an adult with them in the room, and if every player is under 18 an adult still has to stay on the premises.

How much does it cost and do we need to book?

Booking online or by phone gets you a guaranteed slot, though walk-ins are taken when there's space. Under-6s play free, everyone aged 6 and up pays the standard rate.

How long does the game take?

You get 60 minutes on the clock once your game starts. Turn up on time though, as 15 minutes late and the Game Master starts the timer without you.

What happens if we're late or need to cancel?

More than 20 minutes late and your game is cancelled with no refund. Cancellations generally aren't refunded, but you can reschedule free of charge if you do it more than 24 hours before your slot.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

Generally not. Some of the premises have staircases and a few rooms involve crawling through tunnels, so it's best to contact them directly about specific access needs.

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, free parking on site at the Tenpin location. If that's full, the WestQuay multi-storey is nearby at £5 for the day.
