What it’s like

Sixty minutes locked in a themed room together, solving puzzles and riddles as a team, with no strangers thrown into your game.

This is a private room booking, so it's just your group working through the puzzles, not you and three strangers arguing over a cipher. You get 60 minutes on the clock and a free group photo at the end, which is a nice touch if the kids actually crack it and want proof.

It suits six and up, though the site is honest that younger players can find the puzzles a real stretch and might not get much out of it. Under 12s have to be with an adult in every room, and if everyone playing is under 18 there needs to be an adult over 18 on site the whole time. A couple of the games, Hexmore and Escape From Alcatraz, let 12 to 16 year olds play without an adult in the room as long as one stays on the premises.

Turn up on time. The booking is strict: arrive more than 15 minutes late and your timer starts anyway, more than 20 minutes and the game is cancelled with no refund. There's free parking on site, which takes the sting off a bit, but there's no rescheduling if you cancel within 24 hours of your slot either, so a last-minute sick kid is a genuinely annoying way to lose your booking.

Worth knowing before you pick a room: one of the games involves crawling through a tunnel. Access generally involves stairs, and it isn't set up well for wheelchair users.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost and do we need to book?

Booking is required to guarantee your slot, either online or by phone. Walk-ins are taken if a room happens to be free, but with 15 themed rooms and multiple games a day, you're better off booking ahead.

Is it OK for younger kids?

Six is the minimum age and they're charged as standard players from that point; under sixes go free. Under 12s must always play with an adult, and the site warns very young players can find the puzzles demanding.

What happens if we're late?

Fifteen minutes late and the Game Master starts your timer without you. Twenty minutes late and the game is cancelled with no refund, so build in time to park and find the room.

Can we cancel or change our booking?

Not within 24 hours of your game time; there's no refund and no rescheduling that close to the slot. Plan around that if your booking's for a wobbly toddler-adjacent age group.

Is there parking on site?

Yes, free parking on site.

Is it accessible for wheelchairs or buggies?

Generally not. Some premises have staircases, and one room involves crawling through a tunnel, so it's not suitable for disabled or pregnant players.
