What it’s like
Two separate playgrounds, one for under-fives and one for five to 14s, plus tennis courts, free to get into and open from 7.30am until dusk.
There are two playgrounds here rather than one all-purpose climbing frame, which means a toddler isn't dodging nine-year-olds on scooters. The under-fives get their own space, and the five to 14s have a separate playground built for bigger kids who want more of a challenge. If tennis is more your afternoon, there are courts too, along with football, golf practice nets, cricket nets and netball, though you'll need to phone ahead to book those.
It's free to get in, which counts for a lot when you're just filling a couple of hours after school or on a Saturday morning. The park opens at 7.30am and stays open until dusk, but the site is upfront that some gates shut up to 20 minutes before the advertised closing time, so don't cut it fine if you've parked at the far end.
There's a café on site for the inevitable snack stop, and proper toilets including a Changing Places facility at the Stable Yard and the adventure playground, which is a genuinely useful detail if you need it and rare enough that it's worth knowing. Wheelchair access is level at several entrances, though the disabled parking off Abbotsbury Road sits on a steep incline and isn't much good if you haven't got a vehicle to help you up it.
Parking itself is pay by phone, and worth noting the car park closes entirely during carnival operations, so that's not a weekend to rely on it being free. Otherwise this is the sort of park you can turn up to without a plan, let the kids pick a playground, and stay as long as the weather holds.

Plan your visit
Is it free to get in?
Yes, there's no entry charge for the park itself.
What are the opening hours?
7.30am until dusk daily. Some gates close up to 20 minutes before the advertised closing time, so don't leave it too late.
Is there a playground for a toddler?
There's a dedicated under-fives playground separate from the one for ages five to 14, so smaller kids aren't mixing in with the older ones.
Is there parking?
There's a car park you pay for by phone. It closes during carnival operations, so check the calendar if you're planning around that weekend.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Level access is available at several entrances. Disabled parking is at the car park off Abbotsbury Road, though that entrance is on a steep incline and isn't great if you're arriving without a vehicle.
Can we book the sports facilities?
Tennis, football, golf nets, cricket nets and netball are all available, but you need to phone to book rather than just turning up.
