What it’s like

Youth football, Madrasah classes and Quran learning for over-16s and children, with membership at £10 a year.

The children's side of things runs around Madrasah classes and Quran learning, with sessions on weekday evenings from 5pm to 7pm and weekend mornings from 10am to noon. There's youth football on a 3D pitch as well, which is the bit the older ones tend to ask about. It's a centre built around classes and talks rather than a drop-in play session, so you're signing your child up for something with a set time, not turning up on a whim.

Membership is the catch to sort first. The centre lists an annual subscription of £10, payable when you hand in the form, and joining needs you on the electoral register and aged 16 or over. That's a small fee for a year, but it does mean a form before anything starts, and if you've got a nine-year-old and a fourteen-year-old you'll want to check which classes take which ages before you plan the week around it.

The office runs Monday to Friday, 11am to 3pm, which is the window for asking about classes, forms and group bookings. One thing worth knowing up front: the weekly Coffee Morning is women only, so if you're a dad hoping to sit in on that, it isn't open to you. Group bookings are listed, so a club or a group of families can arrange something together rather than each going separately.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

Membership is £10 a year, paid when you submit the form. Entry to the centre itself is free.

Who can become a member?

You need to be 16 or over and registered on the electoral register. The £10 annual subscription is due with the form.

When do the Madrasah classes run?

Weekdays 5pm to 7pm, and weekends 10am to noon. Those are the set times, so plan the school run and Saturdays around them.

What ages is it for?

Children's classes are for young people, and membership starts at 16. If you're unsure which class suits your child's age, the office is the place to ask.

When can I speak to someone about joining or group bookings?

The office is open Monday to Friday, 11am to 3pm. Group bookings are listed as available too, so it's worth asking about those in the same call or visit.

Is there anything just for women?

The weekly Coffee Morning is for women only. Worth knowing before you plan to come along with someone who isn't.
