What it’s like

A small live music venue with gigs across indie, punk, noise, post-punk and electronic, doors from about £5.

This is a gig venue rather than a family attraction, and the site's own listing makes that clear: the bill is indie, punk, noise, post-punk and electronic acts, so it suits an older teenager who's into their music rather than a day out with younger kids. Admission on the door tends to sit somewhere between £5 and £12 depending on the night, which is decent value if you're bringing a teenager who'd otherwise be paying festival prices.

There's indoor seating and toilets, and earplugs are handed out free, a nice touch if the noise genre nights are a bit much. There's also a separate live room, so if the main gig gets too loud there's usually a quieter spot to sit it out.

The one thing to flag before you go is access. There are two steps to get in, and the toilet isn't wheelchair accessible either, though the rooms inside are flat once you're through the door and staff will get a chair out if you ask. They say handles for the door and toilet are planned, but that's not sorted yet, so if wheelchair access matters for your family this one's a faff rather than a straightforward yes.
