What it’s like
Browse original and limited edition artwork at a relaxed Edgware gallery, with a framing desk if you've got a print at home waiting for a mount.
There's no ticket and no queue: you walk in and look at original and limited edition artwork, and the staff are on hand if you want to talk through a piece rather than just nod at it. That suits a browse with a baby in the sling, and it suits a child old enough to be told to keep their hands behind their back.
The other half of the place is the framing service. You bring the thing you want framed and they'll talk you through moulding, mount and glass, which is genuinely useful if you've got a print rolled up in a tube at home and no idea where to start. Worth knowing that's a job for one adult with the kids occupied elsewhere, because choosing between mounts with a four-year-old tugging at you is nobody's idea of a calm morning.
Weekdays run 9.30 to 17.30 and Saturday opens later at 10.30, so a Saturday trip means a slightly lazy start. Sunday is closed or by appointment only, so don't build the weekend around a Sunday wander.
Parking is easy at the gallery and it's close to transport links, which takes the edge off getting there with a buggy or a car full of children. How long you stay is up to you: half an hour if you're just looking, longer if you get talking about frames.

Plan your visit
Do we need tickets?
No ticket and no booking, you can just walk in and browse. Staff are on hand if you want advice on a piece.
What are the opening hours?
Monday to Friday 9.30 to 17.30, Saturday 10.30 to 17.30. Sunday is closed or appointment only.
Is it worth going with children?
It's a browse rather than a thing to do, so best with a child who'll look at pictures without touching them, or a baby in a sling. There's nothing here aimed at kids.
Can we park?
Easy parking at the gallery, and it's close to transport links in Edgware if you'd rather not drive.
Can they frame something for us?
They run a framing service and will talk you through moulding, mount and glass. Handy for a print you've had sitting in a tube.
How long should we allow?
Half an hour for a look round. Longer if you're sorting out framing while you're there.
