What it’s like

Paint pottery, spin the wheel or take home a baby print keepsake at this small studio, with parties for six-year-olds and up.

This is a pottery painting and craft studio where you pick a piece, sit down and get on with it. There's pottery painting, a go on the wheel, and if you've got a baby, they'll do prints and casts turned into a keepsake. Grown-ups get their own version too, with paint and prosecco sessions on offer if you fancy a glass while you paint.

Birthday parties are for six-year-olds and up, and they're properly drop and go, no need to sit with your child the whole time. It's £18 a head for an hour of pottery painting, or £28 if you add party tea, and you get up to two hours of the studio and tables before extra charges kick in at £15 per 15 minutes over. One adult goes free per eight paying kids, and that adult has to stay and keep an eye on behaviour, so it's not a total drop-off for you.

A few rules worth knowing before you book. No food or drink from outside comes in, and self-catering isn't allowed at all, so if you want a picnic box you have to order it two weeks ahead. Deposits are non-refundable whatever happens, which stings if plans change. And once your pottery's fired, you've got a month to collect it before it gets binned, so don't let it sit forgotten in a bag by the door.

The studio's shut on Sundays, and through the first half of September it only opens on Saturdays, so check which week you're planning around. Parking's straightforward though, with free spaces opposite the studio for two hours and a free car park at the Recreation Ground a short walk away.
