What it’s like
A pick your own fruit farm near Retford where the job for the day is filling a punnet, not much else on offer.
The whole visit here is picking fruit when it's in season. There's no play area, no animals to feed, none of the usual farm extras, just rows of soft fruit and orchard crops and a container to fill. That simplicity is either the appeal or the catch, depending on what your kids are after.
It suits a child who's happy pottering between rows and doesn't need constant entertainment laid on. Given there's nothing else listed on site, this works best as a short outing rather than a half day out, maybe an hour of picking before everyone's had enough.
Opening hours shift through the week: Thursday and Friday it's open until 5pm, Saturday to Tuesday it closes at 4pm, and Wednesday it's shut entirely. Worth checking which day you're going against that pattern before you turn up.
There's free parking and toilets on site, and they take both cash and card. Beyond that, it's fruit, a bag, and whatever's ripe that week.
