What it’s like
Roller skating to a live DJ, with games and prizes thrown in, for £10 a double session.
The rink here runs on music rather than silence, with a live DJ keeping the session moving while skaters go round and games with prizes break things up. It's £10 for a standard double session, though that doesn't cover skates themselves, hire is £2 on top, which stings a bit when you're already paying entry. If nobody in your group owns a pair, budget for that extra before you go.
Skate hire covers child size 8 right up to adult 12, so it's not just the grown-ups who can join in. If you or your kids have never skated before, there are lessons from qualified instructors for £5, which is worth doing first rather than watching everyone else wobble round while you cling to the barrier.
Booking is optional, you can reserve online or just turn up and pay cash at the door, which makes it an easy one to decide on the day rather than plan a week ahead. Birthday parties run two ways: an integrated party at a public session from £7 a head, capped at 15 skaters, or a private hire for up to 20 skaters at £180, with extra skaters at £7 each. Worth knowing the private party price doesn't include hall hire, so that's a separate cost to factor in.
