What it’s like

Free museum tracing the history of Glasgow Royal Infirmary and its medical breakthroughs, with a small medicinal garden next door.

This one's a quiet, small-scale museum rather than a big attraction, telling the story of Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the medical discoveries that came out of it. It's free to get in, which makes it an easy add-on to a day in the city rather than something you'd plan a whole trip around.

Kids get to see the history laid out and there's a medicinal garden next to the museum, so if you've got a child who likes plants as much as old artefacts, that's a nice bit to wander round after the exhibits. It's indoors, so a rainy afternoon isn't a problem.

The hours are worth knowing before you turn up. It's closed Mondays, open 11am to 3pm Tuesday to Friday, and a shorter 12 to 4pm slot on Saturdays. Those are tighter hours than most museums, so this isn't one to fit in on a whim late in the day.
