What it’s like

A working farm shop with a big play area, pick your own flowers at weekends and a proper pumpkin patch with tractor rides come autumn.

The play area is the sort of thing you end up staying an hour longer for than planned. There's a wooden climbing frame, a castle with a hideout, two slides, tree stump stepping stones and a sand pit with tyres dug into it, plus a sit-on wooden train and a tyre dragon that's clearly become a bit of a mascot. It's free-range outdoor play rather than a soft play hall, so a dry day helps.

Weekends bring pick your own flowers, and when autumn comes round the pumpkin patch takes over, with tractor trailer rides out to the field, farm animals to look at and some entertainment laid on. They also do twilight pumpkin picking with the fields lit up, which is the bit to save for a slightly older child who'll actually appreciate torches and atmosphere over a straightforward daytime pick.

Food is properly farm shop rather than an afterthought: a restaurant serving Welsh produce, a butchery counter, takeaway options, and The Hatch doing pizzas and wraps outside on weekends and school holidays. The kitchen stays open late on Sundays, until 7:30pm with last orders at 5:30, so it's not just a quick morning stop if you want to make a day of it.

Everything runs daily from 9am to 5pm, with The Hatch keeping slightly shorter hours at weekends and in the holidays. There's no booking link listed.
