What it’s like
A hands-on sourdough or croissant class where you learn to shape and bake proper loaves and pastries from scratch.
This one's for the adults who want to actually learn to bake rather than just watch someone else do it on a screen. The sourdough class walks you through the whole process of getting a loaf right, and there's a separate croissants class if lamination and layers are more your thing. Both run at £125, which is a proper outlay for an afternoon, but you're paying for a hands-on session rather than a demo, and it makes a decent gift if you buy the voucher for someone else.
There's no age range given for these, so this reads as one for grown-ups fancying a proper skills session rather than a family activity. Opening hours are 9am to 5pm daily, and classes need booking ahead since there's no walk-in option for them.
If you just want the bread without the class, the last Saturday of every month is an Open Day where you can turn up and buy loaves directly, sometimes with a seasonal special like wild garlic or walnut and cranberry thrown in alongside the regular four. Outside of that, the bread's available at Howarth's Butchers on Fridays and Saturdays, or you can pre-order for collection Thursday to Saturday near Trafford General Hospital. From March 2026 they're also doing a pop-up at Urmston Makers Market on the first Saturday of the month, so that's another way to get hold of a loaf without booking a class.

How much do the classes cost?
£125 for either the sourdough or the croissants class. Gift vouchers are available too, priced slightly higher at £130 for the croissants voucher.
Do I need to book?
Classes are bookable rather than turn-up-and-join, so get in touch ahead of when you want to go.
Can I just buy bread without doing a class?
Yes, on the last Saturday of every month at the Open Day, or you can find their loaves at Howarth's Butchers on Fridays and Saturdays. Pre-ordering for collection Thursday to Saturday is another option.
What bread do they actually sell?
Four regulars: Soulful White, The Maltchester, Hearty Seeded, and a 100% rye made with wholemeal flour and seeds. The Open Day sometimes brings a seasonal special like tomato and olives or walnut and cranberry.
