What it’s like

A big trampoline arena with laser tag, a ninja course and toddler soft play under one roof at Lakeside.

The main arena is what you're paying for: rows of trampolines, a traverse wall to climb, and the Ninja Wipeout machine that swings round and knocks people into the pads (there's a 1.2m height limit on that one, so check your child clears it before they build it up as the highlight of the day). Older kids will gravitate to the two-storey Ninja Maze and the Laser Quest arena, which you can add on separately or bundle in with a combo ticket. Under-fives get their own soft play area, and there's a Mini Flippers session for the 18-month to 4-year-old crowd that's gentler than the main bounce.

Sessions are timed and not cheap: 60 minutes is £18.95, 90 minutes £21.95, two hours £25.95, and you're told to turn up half an hour early for check-in and the safety briefing, which eats into your session time if you cut it fine. Grip socks are compulsory, Flip Out's own, so don't bother bringing your own pair from another trampoline park. Under-5s need a paying adult with them in the arena at all times, though nobody's making you bounce yourself.

There's a café for feeding everyone afterwards and for any grandparent who'd rather watch than jump, plus an After School Club deal that bundles a kids' meal with the session if you're going straight from school. Birthday parties start at £24.95 a head and come with a private room and a host, which takes the faff out of running it yourself. Parking's in the Lakeside multi-storey, and with the bus terminal and Chafford Hundred station both close by, it's easy enough to reach without a car.

Two hours is a proper stretch for most kids, especially with laser tag or the ninja course thrown in, but for a first visit with a toddler the 60-minute slot plus the arrival time is probably plenty before everyone flags.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

General admission runs £18.95 for 60 minutes up to £25.95 for two hours. Toddlers on Mini Flippers are £16.95, and Laser Quest is separate unless you get the combo ticket at £26.95.

Do we need to book?

Online booking is recommended and some sessions need it. You're also asked to arrive 30 minutes before your slot for check-in and the safety briefing.

What age is it suitable for?

The minimum age is 18 months. Under-5s need a paying adult with them in the arena, and under-11s need a parent or guardian on site throughout.

Can I bring my own grip socks?

No, you have to wear Flip Out's own grip socks in the arena.

Is there anything for toddlers?

There's a toddler soft play area plus Mini Flippers sessions built for 18 months to 4 years.

What about food?

There's a café on site, and the After School Club deal bundles a kids' meal with the session for £14.95.

Is there parking?

Parking is in the multi-storey at Lakeside Shopping Centre. The bus terminal and Chafford Hundred train station are both close by if you'd rather not drive.

Can I just watch without bouncing?

Spectators can watch from the café rather than paying to go in the arena.

Do you do birthday parties?

Party packages start at £24.95 a person and include arena time, a private party room, a host, and food and drinks.

Can I cancel or change my booking?

You get a full refund within 24 hours of paying. After that it's a transfer to another date or a credit note, no refund.

Is there a height limit on any of the equipment?

The Ninja Wipeout Zone has a 1.2m height restriction.

How long should we stay?

Sessions run 60, 90 or 120 minutes plus the 30-minute arrival window. Two hours is a good stretch if you're doing laser tag or the ninja maze too, but 60 minutes is plenty for a first toddler visit.
