What it’s like
A proper cinema in Clifton with baby, toddler and relaxed screenings built round young kids rather than tacked on.
This is the sort of cinema that has actually thought about who is sitting in the seats. Under-12-month-olds get Baby Club, where the sound is turned down and the lighting kept soft, and your ticket comes with a hot drink and cake or a small popcorn while you're at it. Toddlers aged 1 to 5 get their own Toddler Club screenings on the same basis, seating allocated for both of you, so nobody is trying to keep a two-year-old quiet through a normal showing.
In the school holidays there's Family Film Club for the 5 to 14 crowd, run at off-peak times with child tickets discounted by half, no cap on how many kids can use the discount. If your child finds a packed screen with trailers blaring a bit much, the relaxed screenings drop the adverts entirely, keep the lights low and the volume down, and let people move around and make noise without anyone tutting.
Outside those dedicated sessions, babies under a year are actually allowed into any U or PG film before 5pm free of charge, seven days a week, though the site is upfront that the sound might be too much for little ears and you could be asked to step out if your baby unsettles other guests. After 5pm that door closes. Booking isn't compulsory but they do recommend it if you want to guarantee a seat, and there's a £2.50 fee for booking online or by phone that you can dodge by turning up in person or joining as a member.
It's step-free from Melrose Place, with a bell if you need a hand, and wheelchair-accessible seating in every screen, plus the CEA Card gets a companion in free. Parking is on-street round Melrose Place and Alma Road, or the Clifton Down Shopping Centre multi-storey if you'd rather not circle the block, though that shuts at 10.30pm.

Plan your visit
Can I bring a baby to a normal film?
Under-12-month-olds are welcome free at any U or PG before 5pm, but the sound may be loud for a baby and you might be asked to leave if they get upset. After 5pm babies aren't allowed into screenings.
What actually happens at Baby Club and Toddler Club?
Sound is turned down and lighting kept soft or dimmed. Baby Club is for under-1s, Toddler Club for ages 1 to 5, and both include a hot drink and cake or popcorn in the ticket.
Do we need to book ahead?
Not required, but they recommend it so you don't miss out. Booking online or by phone adds a £2.50 fee, which you can avoid by buying in person.
Is it OK for a child who struggles with noise or crowds?
The relaxed screenings cut the trailers, keep lights low, turn the sound down and let kids move around and make noise freely.
What's parking like?
On-street on Melrose Place and Alma Road, or the Clifton Down Shopping Centre multi-storey, which closes at 10.30pm.
Is it accessible with a wheelchair or buggy?
There's a step-free entrance on Melrose Place with a bell for assistance, and disabled seating in every screen. CEA Card holders get a free companion ticket.
