What it’s like

Close-up magic and mind reading performed inches from your seat, in a tiny 18-seat room in Clifton.

This isn't a big stage show with a rabbit in a hat. Everyone sits in a half-circle round a single table, 18 seats total, and the tricks happen right under your nose. It runs about 90 minutes, split into two 45-minute halves with a 10-minute interval to grab a drink, and the site's honest that it's aimed at adults rather than young kids, with an age guide of 10 and up.

There's audience participation, but from what they say it's the relaxed sort, nobody gets pulled up and made to look daft. It's billed as a decent date night or a small group thing, and plenty of the crowd have apparently never seen a magic show before. Bring your own drinks too, which is a nice touch for £25 a ticket.

Shows only run one weekend a month, Friday and Saturday, doors at 7 and the show starting half an hour later, so it's not something you can turn up to on a whim. Seating's unassigned, so if you fancy sitting closest to the table it's worth getting there early. Tickets are non-refundable, which stings if plans change, though they are transferable if you let the venue know who's coming instead.

It's in Clifton, a short walk from Clifton Down station, with street parking on the nearby roads. The venue's fully wheelchair accessible, and they say to flag any specific access needs in advance so they can sort it out.

Plan your visit

How much are tickets and how do we book?

£25 a ticket, £30 for the Halloween special. You book online in advance and shows tend to sell out, so it's not one to leave to the day before.

How long does the show last?

About 90 minutes, split into two 45-minute halves with a 10-minute interval.

What age is it suitable for?

They say 10 and up. It's really pitched at adults, so only bring kids who can sit through a full theatre show.

When are the shows on?

Just one weekend a month, Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7:30pm.

Can we bring our own drinks?

Yes, it's BYOB, and the interval halfway through is your chance to top up.

Is there parking and is it accessible?

There's street parking on the roads nearby, and Clifton Down station is a short walk away. The venue is fully accessible to wheelchair users, just let them know in advance if you have specific needs.
