What it’s like
An amateur theatre putting on family-friendly musicals and plays, with tickets from £12.
This is a local amateur company doing proper stage productions, the sort where the cast are volunteers giving up their evenings for the love of it rather than a pay cheque. They've had Narnia up on stage with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and gone full musical theatre with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, so the range runs from big singalong numbers to more straightforward drama depending what's on when you look.
Tickets are £12, which for a live show with a full cast and set is decent value next to what the big touring pantos charge. Booking's online, and given it's amateur theatre in a smaller venue, sensible to sort your seats ahead rather than hope for the door on the night.
What you get out of it depends a bit on the production picked that season. Joseph is the kind of show that lands with kids who already know a few of the songs, while something like Narnia asks a bit more patience and attention from a younger audience. Either way it's a step up from panto knockabout, closer to a proper theatre trip than a pantomime with a dame throwing sweets at the front row.
Need to know
- Best for
- Kids who can sit through a full show, so probably 6 and up
- It's amateur theatre, so expect a local cast rather than professional touring performers
- The production changes, so check what's actually showing before assuming it's a panto

How much are tickets?
£12 each.
Do we need to book in advance?
There's online booking, worth doing ahead since it's a smaller amateur venue rather than a big theatre with hundreds of seats going spare.
What sort of shows do they put on?
A mix of musicals and plays. Past productions have covered The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Is it suitable for young children?
It depends which production is on. Joseph has the singalong songs that land well with kids who know them, while something like Narnia asks a bit more sitting still and following a story.
