What it’s like

An indoor park for BMX, scooters, skateboards and quad skates, with a foam pit for the tricks that don't land first go.

This is a proper indoor skate park rather than a bit of tarmac behind a leisure centre. Bikes, scooters, skateboards, inline skates and quad skates are all ridden on the same session, so it suits a mixed group where one kid's on a scooter and another's just got a skateboard for their birthday. The foam pit is the bit worth saving for last, once legs are tired and confidence for a proper drop-in has built up.

Being indoors, wet weather isn't a factor here, which is more than you can say for most skate parks. It's open from 4pm on weekdays and from 10am at weekends, both running through to 10pm. Food and drink is sold from the reception area.

One thing to know: if nobody turns up for the last session of the day, they may close it early, around the 45 minute mark. If you're planning a late evening visit, it's worth turning up promptly rather than drifting in for the last hour. Private hire is available too.

Getting there without a car is straightforward: the Purple Line Bus 38 or 38A stops at Vulcan Road Depot, a two minute walk from the door.
