What it’s like

Craft afternoons and afternoon tea for children and teens in a tea room with its own gift shop.

Crafternoons are the main event here: sessions for children and separate ones for teens, so you're not squeezing a nine-year-old and a fifteen-year-old onto the same table doing the same thing. It's a proper sit-down craft session rather than a drop-in play area, which suits kids who like to actually finish something and take it home.

Afterwards, or instead, there's the Children's and Teen's Afternoon Tea in the tea room, with cake, a cream tea or grazing platters if you want something less formal. It's a nice way to make an afternoon of it rather than just the craft bit alone. There's a gift shop attached too, which is either a bonus browse or a bribery risk depending on your child.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, and it's shut Sundays and Mondays, so this isn't a weekend-only or Sunday-treat kind of place. Best to plan around a weekday or Saturday visit.
