What it’s like
Handmade glass fusing sessions where you and a child of 9 or over make coasters, lanterns or curved pieces to take home.
You sit down at a bench and work with sheets and scraps of glass, cutting and arranging them into your own design before they get fired into a finished piece. The site lists coasters, lanterns and curved forms as typical projects, so you come away with something that actually sits on a shelf rather than a wobbly clay pot nobody's sure what to do with.
This is a workshop for older children, not a toddler craft table. The minimum age is 9, and any child has to be booked alongside a paying adult. Closed-toe shoes are a must, no exceptions on that one.
A half day runs about 3 hours and costs £65, while a full day stretches to 6 or 7 hours for £130, which is a proper chunk of a Saturday. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits are included throughout, which helps when you're in for the long session. Glass allowance is capped per person, and going over it costs £5 per extra 100 square centimetres.
Booking needs a deposit, £50 for a full day or £25 for a half day, with the rest paid by bank transfer before you turn up. Cancel within two weeks of your slot and that deposit stays with them, which stings if plans change last minute.
