There's only one place in this category near Reading, but it's a good one. Creative Glass Fusion is out on the edge of the city, about nine kilometres from the centre, and it's a proper hands-on session rather than a paint-and-sip. You and a child of nine or over sit down together and make coasters, lanterns or curved pieces out of fused glass, then take them home once they've been fired. It's not cheap at from £65, so this is one for a special afternoon rather than a wet Tuesday filler. Booking ahead is required, so don't turn up on spec. Under nines aren't really catered for here given the age limit, so it suits older children who can sit still and follow instructions rather than toddlers. There's no food on site, so eat before or after.
