Crag House Farm
WHERE
Leeds
What it’s like
A farm shop and garden centre site with a children's play area, sensory gardens and a conservation walk to wander round.
The play area is the obvious stop for kids, but the sensory gardens are worth building in too rather than rushing past on the way to the car park. There's a conservation walk as well, so you can turn a quick play area visit into a proper hour or two outdoors if the weather's playing along.
This isn't a standalone play centre, it sits alongside a farm shop and garden nurseries. Dogs aren't allowed in the play area, sensory gardens or conservation walk, so leave the dog at home if the walk was going to be the main event.
For food there's the Granary Restaurant, open 9am to 4pm, and a Grab & Go coffee shop doing sandwiches, pastries and homemade soup if you just want something quick between the gardens and the walk. Booking's advised for the restaurant, which suggests it gets busy, so don't assume you'll just wander in and get a table at a weekend lunchtime.
Everything on site runs Monday to Saturday, with the restaurant and Grab & Go open 9am to 4pm and the farm shop and nurseries open a bit longer, until 5pm. Picnics are allowed too, which is handy if you'd rather eat outside near the gardens than queue for the restaurant.
