What it’s like
A local am-dram stage doing pantomime and plays, with £7 tickets for kids and no fuss about where you sit.
This is a proper community theatre setup: pantomime and plays performed on a small stage, seats unallocated so you just grab whatever's free when you get there. No stalls politics, no arguing over who's got the better view, first come gets the middle.
Tickets are £10 for adults and £7 for under-16s, students, disabled patrons and senior citizens, which is decent value against most panto trips into town. You can book online or just turn up, though if you do book ahead, it's worth knowing the booking closes five minutes before curtain up, so there's no strolling in fashionably late and hoping the system still lets you through. They also ask booked groups to arrive together rather than trickling in separately, which is a small faff if your party's coming from different directions.
Once you're in, it's a varnished wooden floor, so trainers over anything that squeaks or clacks is the polite move. There's venue alcohol available if that's your thing for the interval, but nothing brought in from outside gets past the door.
One to flag if plans change: tickets aren't refundable or exchangeable unless the show itself gets cancelled.
