What it’s like

Free entry to a library, art gallery and museum under one roof, with a sensory room and tower views to climb up to.

There's no admission charge here, which makes it an easy one to slot into a Beverley day without watching the clock. Inside you've got a library, an art gallery and museum collections to wander through, plus landscaped gardens if the kids need a change of scene. The tower views are the bit to save for last, once everyone's legs are still working.

The sensory room is worth knowing about if you've got a child who needs a quieter corner partway through, or one who just loves lights and textures for their own sake. A 2024 transformation improved the building's accessibility a good deal, and there's lift access between floors so you're not hauling a buggy up stairs.

The café does sandwiches, paninis, cakes, pastries and scones, and there's a loyalty scheme if you're the sort who ends up back here for hot drinks more than once. It closes mid-afternoon though, at 3.15pm on weekdays and a bit earlier on Saturdays, so don't leave lunch too late.

Parking is the one to plan around. The car park behind the building is pay and display on Saturdays only, on-street parking nearby is limited, and there are disabled bays right outside the entrance. It's a five minute walk from Beverley train station and bus station, so arriving without a car is genuinely easy here.
