What it’s like

Rhymes, storytime and craft sessions for young kids, plus free books, computers and wifi for everyone else.

Rhythm and Rhyme is the one to put in the diary for a baby or toddler, a proper session of songs and rhymes and stories aimed at the 0 to 4 crowd. Once they're a bit older there's Storytime for 4 to 8 year olds, and Saturday storytelling for anyone 4 and up, so the age brackets do actually shift as your child grows rather than you outgrowing the place after a year.

Outside of sessions it's a normal working library, which is its own kind of useful on a wet Wednesday. There's wifi, computers, a photocopier and printer if you need one, and study space if an older child has homework to get through. Everything is free to get in, which makes it an easy one to slot into a morning without planning around it.

Hours are a bit uneven across the week: Wednesday runs latest at 10 till 8, Friday and Saturday are shorter, and it's shut on Sundays and Tuesdays and Thursdays going by the listed days. Craft activities pop up seasonally too, things like a Halloween spooky story book craft, so it's worth a look at what's on before you just turn up expecting a session. There's an accessible toilet and baby change on site, and parking if you're driving over.
