What it’s like
Free storytimes, rhyme sessions and a Lego club fill the week at this Belfast library, no ticket needed.
This is a proper working library rather than a one-off attraction, which means the calendar is where the fun is. Rhythm and Rhyme sessions cover the very small (nought to four), Storytime is pitched at four to eight year olds, and there's a Lego Club alongside book-themed activities for seven to nine year olds. If your child's picking up a second language early, WordPlay French classes run for seven to eleven year olds too, which is a nice find for a free library programme.
None of it costs anything to get in, and there's no booking link listed, so the plan is really just turning up at the right time for the session you want. That's easy on a wet Tuesday when you need somewhere indoors and free, less easy if you're the sort who likes everything confirmed in advance.
Opening hours are generous through the week, Thursday especially with an 8pm finish, but Saturday shuts at half one, so don't plan a lazy weekend morning around it. There's wheelchair access, an accessible toilet, baby change and wifi, plus parking including a blue badge space, which covers the basics without any fuss.
