What it’s like

Rollerskating under disco lights with arcade games and karaoke, on a Bristol rink that runs family sessions on Sundays.

The floor's wooden, the lights are proper disco and the sound system does the heavy lifting, so getting your kid upright on skates for the first time feels a lot less painful than it might. Once they've got the hang of it there's arcade games to raid and a karaoke room if you fancy topping up the noise levels even further. Lessons are on offer too if wobbly ankles need a bit of help.

Entry starts at £2, which is refreshingly low for something billed as a big night out, though lockers are another £2 plus a £5 deposit you get back when you hand the key in. Sundays from midday to 5pm is the family session and the one to go for with younger kids, since the evening slots on other days bring age restrictions after 7pm and 9pm that push things towards teens and adults. Under-12s need an adult with them on the rink, and staff can hold that line at their own discretion depending on how steady your child actually is on eight wheels.

Food-wise it's a proper bar setup rather than a snack bar, burgers, loaded fries, wings, halal and vegan options all listed, so you can make an evening of it rather than just grabbing a drink. Parking's on site but charged, and there's no refund policy if plans change, only a reshuffle to another session if they've got space.

Birthday parties are clearly a big part of the business here, with kids packages from £18.50 a head and teen ones from £20.50, minimum five people. The platinum kids package at £24.50 is the one to save for if you want the full works rather than the basic run.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

Entry starts from £2. Lockers are £2 to rent plus a £5 refundable deposit on the key.

Do we need to book?

Booking is required, it's not just a turn-up-and-skate setup.

What age is it suitable for?

Family sessions are open from age 3. Evening sessions on other days restrict entry to 12 and over after 7pm, and 15 and over after 9pm.

Do young kids need an adult with them?

Under-12s must have an adult with them on the rink, and staff can use their judgement on this depending on how confident a child is on skates.

Is there parking?

Yes, on site, but charges apply.

What's the food like?

There's an on-site bar doing burgers, loaded fries and wings, with halal and vegan options and a full drinks list including cocktails and milkshakes.

Can we get a refund if we can't make it?

No refunds, but they'll try to move you to another session if one's free. Worth emailing ahead if your ticket time doesn't work.

How early should we arrive?

Five to ten minutes before your session. Check-in and getting your boots on doesn't take long.

Do you do birthday parties?

Kids packages start at £18.50 a child, teen ones from £20.50, with a minimum of five people per booking.

Is there a karaoke room?

It's £50 for 45 minutes if you want to hire it out.

Can I bring my own skates?

Not stated clearly on their site, so it's best to ask when you book.
