What it’s like

A private, seven-hour pottery workshop for two or three people, covering wheel throwing and hand-building, with lunch included.

You get the whole studio to yourselves for this one, not a shared class with strangers elbowing you at the wheel. It's a private introduction to pottery, wheel throwing and hand-building both covered, and the session runs a full seven hours, so this is a proper day booked out rather than a quick hour on a Saturday.

That length is the thing to plan around. Lunch and refreshments are provided, which helps, because seven hours is a long stretch to fill on an empty stomach and there's no popping out for a sandwich. Wear something you don't mind ruining. They give you an apron but the site is upfront that things get messy anyway, clay has a way of finding your sleeves.

At £300 for two people or £420 for three, this sits at the private-workshop end rather than a walk-in paint-a-plate afternoon, and it's booked as a session for birthdays, hens, corporate days out or a family celebration rather than a solo drop-in. Two small dogs are around on the day, which is a nice touch if you like dogs and worth flagging if anyone in your group doesn't, or has allergies. One practical note if the wheel is the appeal: it's not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker.
