What it’s like
Watch a pantomime or family show in a small, characterful theatre in a building that's over 190 years old.
This is a proper old-fashioned theatre trip: you turn up, get a seat close to the stage, and watch a live production rather than a screen. Peter Pan is currently on the bill, with tickets at £10 for under-14s and £12 for adults, which feels fair for live theatre and won't wreck the half-term budget. The theatre puts on 10 to 12 productions a year, some in the main auditorium and some in the smaller DOWNSTAIRS@TheLittle space in the bar, so there's usually something running if you time it right.
Matinees start at 2.30pm and run to around 4.45-5.15pm, with the bar open from 1.45pm if you want to get there early and settle in. Evening shows kick off at 7.30pm and finish between 10 and 10.30pm, both with a single 15-minute interval. Those evening finish times are worth clocking if you're bringing children on a school night, since 10.30pm is a late one.
The building itself is part of the appeal, a genuinely old space dating back to 1833, and that history is exactly why accessibility is a real sticking point here. There are steps up to the main auditorium and steps down to the bar and toilets, and the theatre is upfront that there's no way to fit a ramp given the size of the place.
There's no online booking link listed. If you fancy a pantomime that feels like an event rather than a formality, this is the sort of small venue where the intimacy is the whole point.

How much are tickets?
For Peter Pan it's £10 for under-14s and £12 for adults.
What time do shows start?
Matinees usually start at 2.30pm, finishing by around 5.15pm. Evenings start at 7.30pm and run until 10-10.30pm, so it's a later night for children.
Is the theatre accessible for wheelchairs?
No, unfortunately not. There are steps up to the auditorium and down to the bar and toilets, and the building is too small to fit a ramp.
How many shows do you put on?
Around 10 to 12 productions a year, split between the main theatre and the smaller DOWNSTAIRS@TheLittle bar space.
