What it’s like

Axe throwing is the one people talk about, though it's strictly for the over-18s, along with a safety briefing and an enclosed lane so nobody's flinging anything near you by accident. Alongside it there's augmented reality darts, shuffleboard, American pool, beer pong and karaoke booths, which is where the games mix well for a group that isn't all the same age. Under-18s can get in on some of the non-alcohol games earlier in the day, but this genuinely turns into an adults-only bar after 7pm, so a family visit means going earlier and knowing the doors shift later on.
The birthday package is £25 a head with a six-person minimum, and gets you two full-length games plus two house drinks each. There's a nice touch where the birthday person goes free if you use the code at checkout. It's not a cheap night out for a group, but two proper games and drinks included softens that a bit. Food runs to burgers, chicken tenders and fries, with a £10 meal deal if you just want tenders, chips and a drink without the faff of a full menu.
It's a five minute walk from Southampton Central station if you're coming by train, and the Westquay multi-storey is the obvious parking option, open all hours so a late finish isn't a problem. One genuine catch: it's completely cashless, so leave the coins at home and bring a card. Bookings are also non-refundable, so it's worth being sure of your group size and date before you pay.
