What it’s like

Real electric go-kart racing for over-8s, a Mini Racers session for 4 to 7s, and indoor crazy golf on the side.

This is proper karting, not the pedal kind. Over-8s who hit the height and leg-length requirements get onto the main track in electric karts, kitted out with a race suit, helmet and communal gloves. Younger ones aged 4 to 7 have their own Mini Racers experience instead, so a family with a wide age gap can both get a turn without anyone being stuck watching the whole time. There's a 9-hole indoor crazy golf course too if racing isn't quite for everyone that day.

Booking has to be done in advance and paid for in full at the time, and every driver needs to be pre-registered with a waiver before you turn up, which is one more job on the to-do list but saves faffing about at reception. Spectating is free and you don't need to book for it, so grandparents or a nervous younger sibling can just turn up and watch from the bar area. Worth knowing the booking itself is non-refundable and non-transferable, so a change of plan costs you the slot.

It's a cashless venue, card only, and parking is free on site if you register your registration number at reception. There's on-site food with vegetarian options among the drinks and snacks. Access is partially step-free, with the lower level and its spectator area reachable by wheelchair users, though the upper spectator area isn't. Open every day from 9am to 11pm, which makes it an easy one to fit around a weekend or an evening after school.

Plan your visit

How old do kids need to be to race?

The main karts need a child to be at least 8, 1.2 metres tall and have a 25 inch inside leg. Younger drivers aged 4 to 7 can do the Mini Racers experience instead, which needs a height of 1.0m to 1.4m.

Do we need to book ahead?

Booking is essential and full payment is taken at the time to secure your slot. Each driver also needs to be pre-registered with a waiver before the day.

Can my child race without me joining in?

Kids aged 8 and over can race on their own if they want to. Anyone under 16 still needs an adult with them at the venue.

Is it free to watch?

Spectating is free and you don't need to book, just turn up. There are dedicated viewing areas so you can keep an eye on younger drivers.

Is there parking?

Free parking on site, you just register your car's number plate at reception when you arrive.

Is the venue accessible for wheelchair users?

The lower level, including its spectator area, is accessible and there's disabled parking near the entrance. The upper spectator area isn't wheelchair accessible.

What should we wear or bring?

Trainers that cover the whole foot, no sandals, crocs or heels. You'll be given a race suit and helmet, gloves are free to borrow, and you can buy a balaclava for £3.99 if you need one.
