What it’s like

Pony rides, llamas and a farm walk that gets properly muddy after rain, with indoor play for when it doesn't dry out.

Kids from about two up can hop on a pony ride, hand-feed the animals and get up close to llamas, alpacas and highland cattle on the farm walk. There are set animal handling sessions too, with rabbits, guinea pigs and tortoises coming out for a proper stroke rather than just a look through a fence. Add the outdoor play area and an indoor one for backup, and a visit fills a good chunk of a day.

Entry isn't cheap at £18 for an adult in summer (a bit less if you book online, and winter prices drop slightly too), and pony rides are another £5 on top, subject to availability. Animal feed is £2.50 a go, which adds up fast if you've got more than one child wanting a turn. It's open 362 days a year, rain or shine, and there's no refund if the weather turns, so check the forecast rather than hope for the best.

The farm walk and play areas are grass, and the car park gets properly muddy after wet weather, so wellies are the sensible call even on a dry-looking day. The paths nearest the entrance are gravel and wheelchair and pushchair friendly, though the site only has one disabled toilet, which is worth knowing if that matters for your visit. The Blackberry Cafe does proper food for adults and kids, there's a tuck shop for quick snacks, and a picnic area if you'd rather bring your own.

Birthday parties get their own cabin and a full day of access, starting at either 11am or 2pm, with a birthday feast included and the birthday child's parents going free. Dogs are a no unless they're assistance dogs, though you might spot one of the two farm dogs wandering about.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

£18 for an adult in summer, £17.50 if you book online, dropping to £16 in winter. Under-2s and children in fancy dress aged 2 to 16 get half price entry.

Do we need to book?

Booking isn't required to get in, though they suggest pre-booking parking for extra security on busy days.

Is it suitable for toddlers?

Yes, entry starts from age 2 and pony rides run for ages 2 to 10.

What if it rains?

The farm stays open rain or shine with no wet weather refunds, and the paths and car park can get muddy, so wellies are worth packing.

Is there parking?

There's free on-site parking with disabled spaces, and they recommend pre-booking for extra security when you arrive.

Can you take a pushchair or wheelchair?

The cafe and gravel paths are accessible, though grass areas can be tough going when muddy and there's only one disabled toilet.

What food is available?

The Blackberry Cafe does freshly made food, there's a tuck shop for snacks, and you can bring a picnic instead.

Are dogs allowed?

Only assistance dogs, no pet dogs, though two resident farm dogs live on site.

How much are pony rides?

£5 per ride for ages 2 to 10, though it depends on availability so it's not guaranteed on the day.

Do you do birthday parties?

Farm and pony parties run in a private cabin with all-day access and a birthday feast, starting at 11am or 2pm.

Do parents pay to attend a party?

The birthday child's parents come free, and each paying child can bring one parent free too.

How do we get there without a car?

The number 54 bus between Uckfield and Eastbourne has a request stop right outside the gates.
