What it’s like

A guided tea tasting with a cream tea to follow, in a small Nottingham tea house that runs on bookings.

This isn't a café you wander into for a quick brownie and a juice. The main thing on offer is a proper tea tasting, an hour of guided loose leaf tea followed by half an hour of cream tea, and you can bolt on an extra hour of refillable tea for £5.95 a head if the kids are still going. It suits a family who wants to sit down and do something together rather than a quick pit stop between other plans.

Bookings are the only way in for the tea tasting, and they want a minimum of two people, so this works better as a planned outing than a spontaneous one. Prices for the tasting run from £34.95 up to £54.95 depending on which one you pick, which is a fair chunk more than a normal cream tea, so it's one for a special occasion rather than a weekly treat. If you just fancy a walk-in cuppa and a slice of cake, that's on the table too since bookings are only required for the tea tasting itself.

The space is small, which is part of the charm but also the catch. Wheelchair access is ground floor only and gets cosy, there's a small step at the shop entrance, and the toilet is only reachable from outside the shop. The kitchen is tiny too, so if anyone in your group needs gluten free or dairy free, they can usually manage it but there might be a small surcharge, and they're upfront that cross-contamination is a risk given the size of the space.

If you're thinking of a bigger occasion, they do private hire for parties and events, and the site mentions weddings, hen parties and baby showers, plus a lounge that seats up to 15 separate from the main café's 30. Get in touch with your numbers rather than expecting a fixed price list.
