What it’s like
A supervised hour of axe throwing and apple smash games for groups aged 11 and up, minimum age applies.
You get 60 minutes on a lane with proper instruction before anyone's allowed to throw, then it's you against a wooden target with games like apple smash thrown in to break up the straight throwing. It's an 11+ activity and anyone under 16 needs a paying adult with them, so this isn't one to sneak a younger sibling into.
Wednesdays are the day to book if you can. It's half price from 3 to 8pm, £11 for adults and £5.50 for 11 to 15 year olds, against £22 and £11 the rest of the week. Turn up 10 minutes early to sign waivers, closed-toe flat shoes only, and skip the hoodie if you can bear it because they say it gets warm in there.
Birthday parties are clearly a big part of what they do. The smaller package is £22 a head for 6 to 14 people across three lanes, the bigger one £20 a head for 16 to 24 people with exclusive use of all five lanes and a longer 75 minute session. Both come with games, apple smash and a drink and snack thrown in, and they'll do decorations if you ask.
One thing to flag: it's up a staircase to the first floor with no lift, so it won't work if anyone in your group uses a wheelchair. Only low or alcohol-free drinks are served, and they won't let anyone who's had too much to drink take part, which makes sense given everyone's holding an axe.
