What it’s like
Dual-level indoor go-karting up to 45mph, with cadet sessions for kids from age 8 and a glow-in-the-dark version if you fancy it.
This is proper go-karting, not the pootling-round-cones version. The karts hit up to 45mph on a dual-level track, and your eight-year-old gets their own cadet sessions rather than being squashed in with the grown-ups. Once they're 14 and over 130cm they can move up to the adult karts, which is worth knowing if you've got a mixed-age group turning up for a birthday.
Each session is 25 minutes, and everyone gets kitted out in a jumpsuit and helmet with a safety briefing first. Trainers are a must, heels and flip-flops won't get you on the track, and you'll need a balaclava and gloves too. You can bring your own, but if not it's £5 a head for cadet parties or £3 for Whizz Karts, which adds up if there are eight kids at a party.
Parties get 25 minutes of exclusive cadet track time plus a private room, with plates, cups and unlimited squash thrown in, though the hire kit is on top of the price. Off-peak parties start from £25, but weekends and school holidays push the peak price up, so it's worth thinking about a Wednesday afternoon if you can swing it. Booking's not a same-day thing either: you fill in a karting waiver by email beforehand and turn up 45 minutes early for the briefing, which catches people out if they think it's a walk-in job.
Parking's free on site, which is one less thing to budget for. Monday and Tuesday in term time it is shut to the public and only open for private hire, so don't turn up on spec expecting a quiet Monday session.
