Six Objects in Search of An Artist

Free exhibition of new paintings by Michelle Leigh inspired by objects from Warrington Museum's collection.

Painter Michelle Leigh presents a new series of works inspired by objects from Warrington Museum & Art Gallery's collection, reimagining overlooked artefacts through her own artistic lens. Leigh trained at Manchester Polytechnic and Newcastle University and works across oil, watercolour and print, with pieces held in collections in the UK and abroad. Her practice draws on place and memory, turning everyday scenes into pared-back, evocative images, and here she applies that approach to the museum's own holdings. The exhibition is free to visit and runs at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery from 15 August to 1 November 2026, offering a chance to see familiar museum objects reframed through contemporary painting.
