Small-group day trip from York through the Yorkshire Dales to All Creatures Great & Small filming locations.
This nine-hour tour picks up from your York hotel around 8:25-8:30am and takes a maximum of six people in one vehicle, so the driver-guide can get down the narrow lanes that bigger coaches can't manage. The day starts at the World of James Herriot Museum in Thirsk (entry included), set in the building where the real vet Alf White lived and worked, then heads via Ripon, pausing to see Ripon Cathedral, and through Nidderdale into the Yorkshire Dales National Park. In Grassington, used on screen as "Darrowby", there's time to wander the town and see the building that stands in for Skeldale House, plus the option to join the group for lunch at The Devonshire (seen as "The Drover's Arms"), payable locally. The afternoon continues through Wharfedale with stops including Burnsall, the Church of St Michael & All Angels in Hubberholme, and the viewpoint over Yockenthwaite ("Heston Grange", the Alderson's farm), before a cheese-tasting stop at Wensleydale Creamery and the drive back to York, arriving at around 5:30pm. Adults (16+) and children aged 5-15 are both charged £99; under-5s need to be arranged by calling ahead. Meals, drinks and gratuities are not included in the price.
