Free exhibition of original story-inspired artwork by Suzie Devey, suitable for all ages.

A Thousand Tales is a new exhibition at The Word in South Shields showcasing original works by artist Suzie Devey, all inspired by stories. Visitors step into a world of enchanting scenes, curious creatures and hidden clues tucked into every corner, with some details echoing familiar tales and others offering something new to discover. It's designed to be explored at your own pace, looking closely for the stories woven into the artwork. Suzie Devey's pieces draw on stories shared with her, found by chance, or uncovered in objects and memories, which she turns into artwork that keeps those stories alive. The exhibition is free to visit and suitable for all ages, running at The Word from Monday 12 October 2026 until Sunday 28 February 2027. Anyone needing special assistance or with a disability can contact the venue directly on 0191 427 1818.
