Free exhibition at Open Eye Gallery's Atrium telling the stories of nine people seeking sanctuary in Europe.
Seeking Sanctuary, Seeking Humanity shows images and objects carried by nine people during dangerous sea crossings in the Central Mediterranean, before they were rescued by a Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) search-and-rescue ship. Each object, a ring, a photograph, a hat, connects to a piece of home carried through long and perilous journeys, and the exhibition sets out to show resilience, hope and humanity rather than the division and fear often found in migration news coverage. The show is produced in partnership with MSF, an international humanitarian organisation that has provided medical care in more than 70 countries since 1971, including treating people affected by dangerous journeys and restrictive migration policies. It's on in the Atrium at Open Eye Gallery, 19 Mann Island, Liverpool, with free entry. The gallery is open 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
