Facilitated engineering-themed building sessions in Wonderlab, with Explainers guiding children and their adults by age group.
Play Revolution is an interactive art installation inside Wonderlab: The Bramall Gallery at the National Railway Museum, designed by Pippa Hale. Children and their accompanying adults get hands-on with giant building materials, thinking like engineers as they design, build, test and improve structures, supported by the museum's team of Explainers. On weekends and school holidays the day is split into open play and age-grouped facilitated sessions: open play from 10.00-10.40, a session for ages 3-6 from 11.00-11.30, a session for ages 7+ from 11.30-12.00, open play from 12.00-13.40, ages 3-6 again from 14.00-14.30, ages 7+ from 14.30-15.00, then open play from 15.00-16.00. Sessions run on a first come, first served basis and may change at short notice, and children must be accompanied by an adult throughout. The installation sits within Wonderlab, so visitors need a Wonderlab timeslot ticket alongside free museum admission, and the area may occasionally close at busy times to keep the rest of the gallery running safely.
