Rapunzel (Relaxed Performance)

Relaxed performance of the Gala Durham pantomime Rapunzel, with altered lighting and sound and a chill-out space.

This relaxed performance of Rapunzel at Gala Theatre, Durham, is designed to welcome audiences who may otherwise feel excluded from live theatre. The lighting, sound and special effects are slightly softened to reduce anxiety, the atmosphere is informal with audiences free to talk or move around as needed, and there's a chill-out space available for anyone who needs a break. Trained staff are on hand to support additional needs, while the story itself stays the same: Rapunzel sets off from her tower in the forest of Hamsterley with new friends to discover her true identity and uncover the mystery of the floating lanterns, with a cast bringing the tale to life through music and comedy. There are two relaxed performances to choose from, on Friday 4 December 2026 at 1.30pm and Tuesday 15 December 2026 at 6.30pm. Tickets start from £10. Families booking four tickets for the 15 December show can get 15% off, provided at least one ticket is for someone under 16 (excluding Band C). Schools and groups of 10 or more can also save £1 per pupil if booking before 31 January 2026, with one free ticket for every ten purchased.
