Parks & Playgrounds in York
There's only one park-style day out listed for this stretch, but it's a proper one. Sundown Adventureland is a longer trip out to Rampton, near Retford, and it's built entirely around under-10s: over 30 rides, indoor play for when the weather turns, and free entry if your child is under 90cm tall. Tickets start from £16.60, which feels fair once you factor in a day of rides rather than a couple of hours on swings. It suits toddlers and younger children best, so don't expect much for teenagers. There's free parking, a cafe and a gift shop on site, and you'll need to book ahead rather than turning up on spec. It's an outdoor park, so pack for the weather, and build in proper travel time since it's not a quick pop-out from York.
