Scouts, Guides, Cadets & Youth Clubs in Reading
If your kids are after something more structured than a soft play session, Reading has a couple of solid options. The 103rd Oxford Road Scout Group runs weekly sections for ages 4 to 18, taking them from their first campfire right up to planning their own expeditions. A little further out but still in Reading, the 1st Burghfield and Sulhamstead Scout Group covers ages 4 to 25 and gets stuck into camping, hiking, canoeing and abseiling, with party rooms on site too. For younger children, the 103rd Oxford Road group starts at age 4 and is the closer of the two to the centre, handy if you are juggling school pickups. If your teenager wants to keep going into their twenties, the Burghfield and Sulhamstead group's age range up to 25 is worth knowing about, and the outdoor activities suit kids who would rather be outside than indoors most weeks. Both meet weekly, so it is a case of picking the age range and activities that fit rather than the distance.
